An introduction to PPi Bespoke

There are two critical questions to ask of any initiative to develop new skills

1. Is the skills content generic or specific to the organisation; and
2. Is there a significant number of people who need these skills?

For example, a Network Engineer installing and optimising a Windows 2008 Server migration in one organisation will need substantially the same skills as their opposite number in another organisation. In contrast implementing a significant new breakthrough programme or a major enterprise initiative will be very specific to your precise needs. For the Network Engineer, our scheduled courses are the most cost effective; and our Bespoke Services Programme is specifically designed for those projects in which the skills needs are specific to your organisation.

Our development team has extensive experience of creating and deploying such training solutions. We adopt an open design approach and use the most appropriate instructional methodology and technology for each project. The approach we adopt is determined by the subject matter, your target audience and the deployment criteria; it will range from knowledge object support, through content management, to game-based activities. In rolling out the solution we develop there are two critical elements that we invariably use - our Learning Management System (LMS) to provide the infrastructure for the deployment and our Performance Support System (Learning Guide) to provide context sensitive help that consolidates the learning experience on a 'just in time' basis



Content



In developing your content we use a rounded user-centric approach; we ensure that we engage the learner at an affective level. Audiences today are exposed to media-rich environments through multiple channels such as television, advertising, computer games, social networking and the Googleisation. The Internet has changed the way in which users engage with media through ready access to an unprecedented level of interactivity and choice.

As a result, it is no longer sufficient to adhere to instructional pedagogies that focus exclusively on cognitive models of information processing. More thought has to be given to engaging learners in the compelling and relevant manner that mainstream media demands. This includes the use of imaginative themes, games, narratives, and non-linear relationships, adaptively presented with bold contemporary visuals. Our media-based instruction is fully integrated with broader training environments such as instructor-led and support solutions.

Our web hosted LMS offers a smart, cost-effective alternative to the demands of traditional LMS ownership, substantially reducing infrastructure and operational costs, as well as deployment time. There is no hardware or software to buy, install or maintain, a typical implementation can be completed in less than 6 weeks.



PPi LearningGuide



There has been a fundamental change in Information Technology deployment over the last few years. Initially, new technology replicated existing processes; but that lead to sub-optimisation. Now, invariably new technology will change the business process - and that means that the audience needs to be trained on the process - not the technology.

At PPi we use a Performance Support System (Learning Guide) to meet this requirement. Performance Support provides the user with context sensitive support at precisely the time they need it.

With our Learning Guide that support is at precisely the level that is required:

• Process - a complete work flow guide showing each step in the process and the roles being performed;
• Step - a step-by-step guide through the selected elements of the process;
• Details - a clear set of task details and application interfaces;
• Do It - the opportunity to practice the task in either a live or simulated environment.
• Resources - full back-up if required.
